To kiss the moon sharply
To bite the dog tough
To surprise the blue cloud
To cut the cool slag

Eyes to bruise red
To surprise the frog sharply
To ruin hot mud
Belief to kiss important

To burn red slag
To kiss throat sharply
To ruin dogs leather
To burn frogs soflty

English 1102

In this class I have learned to watch for details when writing the paper. Details make a persons interest either very high or very low. Our discussions or "debates" have taught me that everyone has their own opinion and the world can have different points of interest to back up their opinions. Peers are not your friends, but people to compare your ideas of life against. Stories like Barn Building and Good Country People are stories that I can relate to. Me being so country and raised in the old time ways relate to Barn Building in ways such as the P.T.S.D. was in my family at one time, having to work very hard to make a living, and trusting my dad with my life and protecting him with everything including lies. As for Good Country People it describes my family to a T. The only part of the entire semester I disliked was eighty percent of the stories we had to read were usually very depressing or about violence. I understand that most good stories are about a hard time in life, but there is also the stories that can make people laugh, be happy, and even change their lives. All in all the class was very entertaining and insightful. Just change the stories we read and the class would be awesome!

Before you my life was rough
Every turn I made just it more tough
Then you stept in
And this it where it will begin

Today is our five months of amazing
From then and even now it is blazing
What I am talking about is our love
It was like it fell from above

You brought me up from the ground
Now it is like I can not frown
The butterflies are so pretty
And everytime I see you they multiply by twenty

I am going keep you forever
With you my heart is finally together
If you truely love me for me
Hold my heart for infinty

This is a true story. Today is my girlfriend and I's five months and this is the poem I wrote for her.

Hypocrisy in our lives

Everyday people encounter some type of hypocritical person whether it be with their jobs, religion, or race discrepancy. My experience with this was related with religion. As a child, my parents tried to teach me about religion and the importance of being able to show it to the people around you. Me in turn being very easily influenced by the people around me, it seemed like all I wanted to do was fit in with the cool kids, but they never showed any interest in religion or the thought of it. That's when I decided to start going to F.C.A or The Fellowship of Christian Athletes. At first i thought it was weird how all these cool kids were telling everyone about their problems and asking the crowd to pray for them. About a week later I finally realized that these people were amazing at what seemed to be both in and out of school, but I was certainly wrong. The president of my group had a beautiful girlfriend by my standards and they seemed to be the happiest relationship in the school. Him and I became great friends until the day he decided to teach us about how to keep a relationship strong. What he used from the bible, the stories, and the lessons at first gave me more confidence in my relationship with my girlfriend, but I wanted to know more about what he was talking about so after our huddle was over I asked if he wanted to go eat on my treat. He declined saying, "I have some prior engagements but give me a rain check on it." I was more than happy to except that so after school I went to taco bell and read all the lessons my president had told me about that morning. Twenty minutes into my meal and I hear a very familiar voice that I wished I had never heard. My president was sitting on the other side of the restaurant with his girlfriend's best friend. He was rubbing her legs and her hand telling her she was beautiful. It felt like someone had stabbed my heart and all I wanted to do was pull it out and bleed to death. My friend, my mentor had betrayed, not just me, but all the other people he had taught that morning. Most people would use that as black mail, but me I ripped out the page in the bible that he had taught us that morning and highlighted it. As I walked toward him his eyes told me he knew he was wrong and it was like I was God telling him he was wrong. I said nothing but here is a lesson for your life. I never told anyone that story at school but he knew. Not a week later he resigned his position and broke up with his girl friend. I asked him the last day of school why he did it and all he said was, "My life will have to get back on track before I ever teach another innocent person about doing right." My reply was, "I will pray for you." Never again have I seen him but I have kept my word and I hope that the lesson I showed him has changed his life for the better. Just because hypocrisy is every where doesn't mean that you can't take a lesson from it and use it to make your life more succesful.

Writing about anything?

Well since we get to talk about anything, I believe I will talk about me and my father's fishing trip this morning. We got up about 5:30 and loaded the gear up on our boat. We arrived at the lake at about 6:15 and began a long very hot morning of fishing. The only problem we had all morning was snakes, and I mean some big ones. One of the copperheads we measured at about 3 feet long. Finally at 11 o clock we decided that the ammunition we were using to kill all the snakes was not worth the little amount of fish were catching. So now i am sitting in the library bored out of my mind waiting for 6 o clock so that I can get back outside!

Is Troy a racist or misunderstood?

Some people would consider Troy to be racist because he has a bitter taste toward the white men that play in Major League Baseball, but this is not at all the case. The bitterness that Troy feels is not racism but actually just hate that he is grown to have because of his age and not being accepted by the people in the baseball teams. Most of Troy's life has been centered around the dream of being on a baseball team. This theory is backed up by the argument that Troy gets into with his son Cory about him playing football. It is not that Troy wants his son to do what he wants but that he wants Cory to be a greater man than he is and have more than he could ever have in his life. Racism from that time to this time has really changed drastically because of the laws created. Back then blacks were so discriminated against that their lives were absolutely limited to those of an animal. But now showing any sign or saying any words pertaining to racism can get you locked up for a night or two and a hefty fine. So was Troy Maxson a racist? In his time period no he was not. He was just a man angry  because his life was not fulfilled how he wanted it to be. In today's time saying what he said, depending on the judge could possibly get him up to six months in jail.

A Salesman's attitude on life

What does a salesman mean to you? Well to me, it is someone who will tell you about a product to try to get you buy it. They can tell you anything you want to hear just as long you buy what they have. So really we are all salesmen. Well sell our friends our personalities, stories, and advice. To our loved ones we always sell our love and compassion when times are hard.

“Death of a Salesman” is about a salesman who is living his whole life regretting and trying to relive his past. When Charley, Willy’s neighbor, tells him, “the only thing you got in this world is what you can sell,” he means that all life is about everything about you and what you have in your life and not about what you have in your life that you can sell. Willy does not understand this concept because he has the mindset that he has to sell everything. In other words he has to have money to apparently be happy.

Today’s world has changed this concept majorly. Instead of having to have money to be happy and that is all, the world wants material things such as cars, houses, and high class vacations. Everyday extraordinary things happen in our lives and it just passes by without us even noticing because we always have our mind set on a goal instead of enjoying the pleasures of life. The reason people are always doing this is because they have made mistakes and live their entire lives trying to make up for them, just like Willy.

Every day you are selling something you just cannot see it through your eyes.

Americans in a Play

The Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miler is about a family who seems to all be losing their mind slowly. Willy being a usual sales with great ambition, or so he believes. To him, the only thing the world is about is making the American Dream come alive for himself and his family. Only problem with that is he is slightly psychotic and delusional about the hardships of the new world. His son Biff dropping out of high school is something he just can not seem to grasp. For Willy, I would consider Willie from the show Swamp People because in his eyes the world he lives in, the swamp, is the only place in the world that he thinks is home. To a urban person he is crazy but to country folk he is just tough. As for Biff, I would consider my cousin Taylor. in his life all he wanted to do was make his grand mother happy by becoming a doctor, but he turned his sights towards his real dream of becoming a vet. Linda is a woman who most men would love to call their own. For her I would choose my girlfriend Torey. Even though we see each other maybe once every two weeks because of my busy schedule, she still finds ways to make me the happiest and luckiest man in the world. And as for Happy, I would definitely choose my little cousin Owen because he lives in a house with five women, so when he gets out of his prison and into the real world all he wants is a father or older brother figure to step in and show him the right ways.

What is the American Dream?

As America changes day by day the American Dream changes, but exceeding all other American dreams is the dream of having an unlimited supply of money. As new generations arise the greed for money continues to become out of control. Back in the 1900's people did not care for money, but instead cared for their family, making sure they had food on the table, clothes and shoes, and a roof over their head. Look at how happy families were back then compared to now. Families now will get in a tight fit with money and argue, point fingers, and soon divorce making the children, if they have any, lives very difficult to go through without getting into trouble. In turn, this actually cost these unfortunate children their dreams because then they have a record. But there is always those very fortunate few that make it through their growing up years with both parents. These children dream of being a doctor, astronaut, or a cop because their parents tell them if you want it work for it and you will succeed. Granted some do not accomplish their initial dreams because of money or other hardships, but they always have more happiness in which ever profession they choose because they know that that is what they want out of their lives. After all is said and done the real question for all Americans is what is MY American dream  not what is the American dream. For me personally my dream is to get through nurse practitioner school and move off with my girlfriend to somewhere like Texas. Reason is so that our kids, once they are old enough to have a job, can find a job because having a job in high school taught me a lot about life before I even graduated. Once we get settled down in a nice home and start the family then I will call my dad and ask him what he thinks about the life I have created for my family. Hopefully he will say, "You have exceeded my expectations son". To me, the American dream has its own preference by the people, but if it was up to me every man and woman would have a loving happy family, a good job, and self fulfillment. Life is to short to set yourself at such high goals that you cannot enjoy it because it is the only one you get.

Yogurt From Jandy's

Yogurt
Milk- American and it Could be fatty, skim, or low fat. It all depends on what your wanting your weight to be.
Cheesecake- America
Vanilla-Mexico
Orange Sherbert- America
Rocky Road-America

Toppings
Gummy Bears-America
Caramel-America

In society now of days it seems that everyone is worried about their weight and how healthy something is for your body. The only bad a part about that is people want to eat something that taste really good such as ice cream. The people of this new generation averagely consume 23.2 quarts of ice cream in one year. This is very bad estimates and that is why dairy company's are making yogurt taste better while still keeping in the nutritional values. Granted that yogurt is more expensive than most other ice creams but isn't all new products that come out that have a high demand by people? Just the other night I served myself with over a pound of yogurt at Jandy's in Rome. It cost me around eight dollars for myself, but it was worth every penny. Just think eating Cheesecake, Vanilla, Orange Sherbert, and Rocky Road all together at the same time. Most everyone will say that sounds amazing and that is with hardly if any fattening at all, and of course you can always add gummy bears and non fat caramel to it and make it even more awesome! The nutrition era has began with vegetables and now it is time for ice to step down and let yogurt take the place of the midnight snack.
